Pierella lena

Uncommon(?) up to 850 m.; probably more common in lowlands. Found inside humid forest; attracted fallen fruit. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: P. astyoche (I have no Cusco records; it may not occur) has the 3 pale submarginal spots VHW more aligned; in lena the middle pale spot is much more offset outwards.

Common 850-1400 m. Found in dark forest understory; attracted to fallen fruit, and occasionally spitwads/bait. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.
