Leptophobia eucosma

Locally(?) fairly common at 2800-2900 m. Attracted to mud and flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: Black on DFW is much more restricted than L. diaguita or any other similar species.

Leptophobia diaguita

Rare at 2900 m. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: Most similar to L. eucosma, but black border on DFW extends from apical area to (and just beyond) tornus.

Leptophobia eleone

Common(?) 1900-3100 m. Usually found visiting flowers; also puddles. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: I don't know how to distinguish this species from L. helena (I have no Cusco records), but I believe eleone is much more common.

Leptophobia aripa

Uncommon(?) 1450-3000 m. Puddles and visits flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: L. eleusis has a narrow yellow streak long most of VFW costa.

Leptophobia eleusis

Uncommon(?) 2000-2150 m., probably lower and possibly higher. Puddles and visits flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: L. aripa lacks yellow along VFW costa.

Leptophobia olympia

Locally fairly common at 1500 m., probably higher and lower. Puddles and visits flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: L. tovaria (I have no Cusco records though it probably occurs) is similar but has black interveinal ridges VHW. Compare with L. penthica, which has an isolated white patch near DFW apex.

Leptophobia tovaria

Fairly common at 1350-1400 m., probably higher. Puddles and visits flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: L. olympia lacks black interveinal ridges VHW; V recalls L. philoma subargentea but D pattern very different.

Leptophobia penthica

Uncommon(?) at 2000 m., probably higher lower. Puddles and visits flowers. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: V recalls L. olympia, but DFW pattern obviously different. Compare also with L. philoma subargentea.

Leptophobia philoma subargentea

Fairly common 1550-2150 m., probably higher. Usually found puddling; also visits flowers.

Similar species: DHW has much more black than similar Leptophobia. V has black interveinal ridges, like L. tovaria (I have no Cusco records) but unlike most others including L. penthica which often occurs in the same areas.

Leptophobia cinerea

Fairly common 700-950 m., probably higher. Usually found visiting flowers; also puddles. I'm not sure which subspecies occur(s) in Cusco.

Similar species: D recalls some other Leptophobia but V is unique. V vaguely recalls some Pereute species - especially P. charops (I have no Cusco records) - but none has green eyes, among other differences.
